The Kings Theatre in Glasgow

Located close to the Holiday Inn Theatreland in Glasgow is The King’s, one of Scotland’s most historic and significant theatres.

Opened in 1904 as one of the most brilliant designs of the prolific theatre architect Frank Matcham, over the years,  The Kings has played host to top stars and shows ever since. It is home to possibly the very best Christmas pantomime to be seen in the United Kingdom which over the years has featured the Scottish greats including Stanley Baxter, Jimmy Logan, Rikki Fulton, Jack Milroy, Elaine C Smith and the late, great Gerard Kelly. The King’s provides Glasgow’s flourishing amateur groups with a high profile stage and was the location for the opening ceremony of Glasgow’s European City of Culture events in 1990. Above all, it continues to pack in appreciative audiences performance after performance and throughout the year.

IHG award winners

The InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), which is the parent brand of Holiday Inn, every year hands out awards for hotels that offer the best in customer service. The Holiday Inn Glasgow Theatreland hotel has for the last few years ranked very well in this and 2010 was no exception with our hotel being awarded a ‘Quality Excellence Award’. Being awarded this entails that our Holiday Inn hotel was in the top 50 hotels for service in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East & Africa) which is an excellent achievement and one we are very proud of.

We are very proud of our staff who have worked tirelessly to achieve this excellent standard of service and we know that they will continue to do so. The hours of training that they go through is vital to ensure you have a great stay every time you visit the Holiday Inn Glasgow Theatreland hotel.

HOLIDAY INN GLASGOW THEATRELAND JOINS $1 BILLION GLOBAL BRAND RELAUNCH

New and improved

The Holiday Inn Glasgow Theatreland hotel

Work has been completed at the Holiday Inn Theatreland Glasgow hotel, owned by hospitality entrepreneur Maurice Taylor, which sees this popular hotel unveil a new look and feel, along with an improved guest experience.

Taylor’s vision, backed by a personal investment of close to £1 million, has created a contemporary new look for the hotel’s rooms and Penthouse suites. No expense has been spared on the bathrooms either to create a super sleek sanctuary.

As part of the rebrand programme, every one of the Holiday Inn Express and Holiday Inn Theatreland Glasgow’s 231 bedrooms, including 23 executive and feature rooms and 3 exclusive Penthouse Suites, together with all en suite bathrooms, has been given a fresh, contemporary new look.

The first external sign of the hotel’s changes was the makeover to Holiday Inn’s iconic new contemporary logo– its first major change since the brand launched more than 50 years ago.

Denis MacCann, General Manager of Holiday Inn Glasgow Theatreland, comments:

“Our research showed that our guests want things a certain way; great beds, great showers, free Wi-Fi and fantastic service with a more up-to-date look throughout the hotel. We’re confident our new image will help us exceed the expectations of our guests.”
